Red, yellow, sizing, MOQ, packing, ports — everything a first-time importer needs to know before placing an Indian onion order.
India is the world's second-largest onion producer and the single largest exporter to South Asia, the Gulf and parts of Europe. But sourcing onions from India is not as simple as sending a PO — variety, size, moisture, packing and even the port of loading each affect the price and the arrival quality.
Most international programs specify one of three size bands: 40–60mm, 55–65mm, or 60–80mm. We sort mechanically and then hand-check to remove sprouts, splits and thick necks.
Standard export packing is 25kg red or yellow mesh bags, or 10kg/5kg consumer bags for supermarkets. MOQ starts at 1×20-ft (~26 MT) or 1×40-ft (~52 MT).
We load from Nhava Sheva (JNPT), Mundra and Hazira depending on the destination. Gulf buyers typically prefer Mundra for its shorter transit; Southeast Asian buyers prefer JNPT.
